Michael plays "So Different Blues" by Mance Lipscomb at the Navasota Blues Festival, 2010. I would be interested to learn of any recording of this song before Mance recorded his version of it.

  • where can i find the chords for this song?

  • @mmurph172 The song is in the Key of C. Watch my hands and you should be able to pick out the following sequence: |C|Ab7-G7| C| E7| F|Ab|G|A|C|C-G7|C|C|. This is a 12 bar song, but as Mance put it, "it is so different from everything else I play."

  • This was the second Mance tune I learned after Ella Speed. It's such a clever, unexpected progression. I have trouble imagining it being anything other than a Mance original. I'll have to dig out Alyn's book to see what, if anything, he says of its origin.

  • Thanks a million sir!
