"Scotland the Brave" (Scottish Gaelic: Alba an Aigh) is a patriotic song and one of the main contenders to be considered as a national anthem of Scotland. In June 2006, the song came second to Flower of Scotland in an online poll with more than 10,000 votes to determine the nation's favourite unofficial "anthem". The song is used to represent Scotland in the Commonwealth Games.

Scotland the Brave is also the authorised pipe band march of The British Columbia Dragoons of the Canadian Forces and is played during the Pass in Review at Friday parades at The Citadel. In 2006, it was adopted as the regimental quick march of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

Scotland the Brave (Alba an Aigh en gaélique écossais) est, avec The Flower of Scotland, l'hymne national écossais.

Scotland the Brave é um dos hinos não-oficiais da Escócia junto com Scots Wha Hae e Flower of Scotland.

Wow. I'm by no means Scottish ( actually English and French) by my god, when I hear those bagpipes, goosebumps raise and some primordial, beautiful animal emerges from hiding. Maybe I have some hidden celtic blood in me, because this stirs my soul to boiling point. Alba Gu brath indeed.

Nobody here is trying to say we are Scottish nationals. If we're American, we're American. We come here to videos like this to honour our heritage and our ancestors who DID come from Scotland, because Everyone in America came from somewhere else, so we can remember our old world origins and enjoy some class-A bagpiping. No need to get butthurt about a trivial thing, my friend. You should be happy Americans are curious about the world...we tend to sometimes be insular.

That's odd. I have lived my entire life thinking I was Scottish, my mother being born and raised in Scotland but having moved to the United States, and the entire rest of my family still living there. Thank you for informing me otherwise.

It's amazing what you find when you trace your lineage. My brother in law's wife traced her family tree, and traced my husband's, and found that going back hundreds of years, they were related. Same clan.

If you don't know where you've come from, you don't know where you'll go. There's a place in Scotland my husband always wanted to visit, just felt a need to, after hearing just the name. Research showed it was in an area his clan is from.

My grandmother might disagree. Born in Scotland, raised in Ireland. Proud as hell of her heritage. I'm of two clans by blood, by both my grandmothers (One was half-Scottish, and visited family in Scotland), and another two by marriage. Thankfully, none are Campbell or MacDonald, though my ex was MacDonald. Should have listened to my grandmother.

Oh, by the way, I'm in Australia. We're everywhere.

+1 to Josh Nixon's comment. Be glad that the bloody Americans take pride in their ancestry and an interest in Europe.

I have never seen so many damn 182scotty182's pretending they're cool because they were born in Scotland or whatever. I was born in America raised in American but my blood is Scottish. That's what makes you Scottish. Simple
