As @maxhansendk said this is very mediocre playing. Lots of intonation problems, left hand tension, exaggerated (unnecessary movements), poor positioning with the shoulder rest (which also mutes his tone), lots of bow technique problems, and the list goes on.. If you want to listen to a great recording of this go hear Heifetz, Szeryng, or Milstein. Many can play the violin better than Vengerov; not everyone has the political ties that fell into his lap at an early age.

Sorry Vengerov, but really, when compared to the various other magnificent recordings/videos on youtube this is garbage.

I played in the second violins of that orchestra! The soloist did get told off for changing the tempo too much in the fourth movement but we played it far too fast! She told him that she heard a recording of vengerov playing that was much slower and she played as written in the music, but he said that he didnt care what speed vengerov took it at. But he only said that coz he wanted to make her performance shorter remember he cut a whole section of the fifth mvt? i felt so sorry for her! lol

Nevermind Brunildilla, there`s always a monkey writting shit about great and talentous monkeys that play the violin on youtube. I`m a uruguayan violinist, and vengerov is the most popular violinist in my conuntry, sorry for my english.

There are hundreds of violin plyers who playes better then this "smug" selfcentered mediocre diva.

2º- You don´t like Vengerov ok, put it, but please give reasons or make a critical height, a constructive criticism, not the amount of rubbish that we read in various channels .. talk, discuss and share music, but as respectable and respected people.

Well , if you don ´t like his rendition of Sbelius violin -concerto then, don´t listen, that is all..so simple like that.
What really bothers me is the fact that many people write and call bullshit on Youtube and give the luxury of disrespect to renowned violinist
