This song is crime against humanity.

Phil wasn't referencing gays when he has the cop say "those faggots". He meant it in the "long-haired commie pinko fag" way, which was slang for war-protesting hippies back in the day.
Although I suspect had he lived and regained his sanity he would have evolved, Phil was not a champion for either gay or women's rights. They simply weren't on his radar.

@KennBurch this song is talking about a certain silly, yet typical 'macho' mentality. a way of thinking and living that is stupid, narrow minded, sheeplike, coldhearted and unoriginal. to say the least.
-
And the reactionary values most police officers end up embracing for some reason.
-
Wrong. And Phil WAS male, so, logically, he wouldn't have been saying men have no redeeming qualities.
-
Btw, if Phil had been taking a pro-gay position, would that have bothered you?
(also, there is no such thing as "promoting homosexuality". There's just support for the rights of LGBT people to be treated equally, and to have their relationships be treated equally, before the law.)
-
The only reason he even referred to homosexuality in the song was to reference the bigotry of the police-industrial complex. That's why the line about blacks is there, too.
