Unfortunately Feis Style dancing has moved on a lot, especially An Coimisún dancers, they are all tricks, spins and leaps! However today a style of Irish Dance called Festival, is more traditional and is more like the style shown in this video, unfortunately you really only find Festival schools in Northern Ireland, feel free to contact me for more info if you're interested.

Fantastic! The music is a traditional Newfoundland folk song calling Squid Jigging Time, and the dance starts as a hornpipe and finishes as a treble reel. Where are these dancers from? I love the intriciate steps and precise beats!

From people who had really long, only somewhat curly hair and were 5 years old, waking up at like 5 in the morning to curl hair for a feis, and since the feis was outdoors their hair came down in about 5 minutes anyway. I've been dancing before and after the switch- I love wigs. SOOOO much easier. The only danger is them falling off.
These dancers are fantastic! So precise. Their beats are incredible. I think we need more complex beats and precise footwork today. These women are amazing!!

I would sell all my non-vital organs to be able to do that :O
Amazing, waaaaay better than the irish dancing you see now, its become too much about the fashion and less about the actual dancing
also love the music, shouldn't forget the musicians!
:)
Maybe I'm old fashioned but I prefer these old steps to the new ones my daughter dances. There are no "tricks" just lovely, traditional steps that really emphasize the "Irishness" of Irish Dance. Now it's all about the moonwalk, spins, toestands, and leaps. I also prefer the natural hair to the wigs. The designs on the dresses are lovely however the dresses are a bit long. Still all in all I really enjoyed seeing how it used to be
