An early outing for the Mac, with a cover of an Elmore James blues number as their first single release. This was back in 1967 when they were still a four-piece band, post-Brunning, pre-Kirwan. Issued in the UK on Blue Horizon and re-issued in 1969.

  • My Favorite OLD FLEETWOOD MAC SONG =)

  • @z: Main reason: Peter gave full effort backing Jeremy, (making FM a great 2-guitar band), but Jeremy refused to back Peter, (making them sound like a 3-piece, never Peter's intention): Peter "let" Jeremy do more to make the band sound better as a whole. Danny was added, not to have 3 guitars, but to finally have 2 guitars on Peter's tunes. Danny's guitar work was integral to Peter's best original material, (FM's best work). Jeremy's guitar was non-existent on that stuff.

  • @Piers40 this is Spencer singing not Peter

  • I always find it amazing that Jeremy Spencer did so many of the vocals, with Peter standing by, with his amazing voice. He just had something that spencer could never bring across. Is it because Peter couldn't sing and play at the same time???

  • @Discfiend69 It's not from Elmore James but from Robert Johnson ...

  • @piers40 lol i didnt read your comment first but its cool to know that you know and i know the true origin of this song R.I.P. Robert Johnson

  • robert johnson did this song first i love this version thank you

  • We used to play both versions in a band called The Rhythm Doctors, here in Hamilton, NZ - and we rearranged the lyrics a little so that we started out with the chorus first in ".... My Time Ain't Long" so it didn't start off sounding the same as "Dust My Broom" - "Dust My Broom" also had a long drum fill between the end of the chorus and the next verse! Made them sound a little different.

  • @Piers40 Jeremy Spencer on vocal

  • @Piers40 I red on wiki, and there were more interesting things to read on that page: "Dust My Broom" is a blues standard originally recorded as "I Believe I'll Dust My Broom" by Robert Johnson the Mississippi Delta blues singer and guitarist on November 23, 1936 in San Antonio, Texas. The song was originally released on 78 rpm format. There is an ongoing dispute as to whether the song was originally written by Johnson or by his contemporary, bluesman Elmore James.
