Promotional movie based on a live performance by UK based 'The Amplifires'. The song is a a cover written by the late great Alex Harvey - endorsed by the surviving, original members of the Sensational Alex Harvey Band - Ted McKenna, Hugh McKenna, Chris Glenn and guitar god Zal Cleminson (my master disc is also signed by the magnificent Mad Max Maxwell - or Alex). • this is dreadful - a brave effort, but not even close. Sorry.

  • @pint6x You're assuming we are copying. SAHB are one of my favourite all time bands - correction my all-time favourite bands/ What you don't know is that I have/had discussed this with Zal/Chris/Hugh/Ted and then they endorsed the version by signing it - along with Max. Nobody can copy Alex, certainly Max couldn't but hey, we just like the song

  • @SteveAmplifire My my, 3 replies, which one to reply to? let's go for the one with the fewest spelling mistakes! Well Steve, you can get your version endorsed by the Pope as far as I'm concerned, the fact is that it still sucks big time.

And who cares what I think? well clearly you do, otherwise you wouldn't have replied!

  • @pint6x YouTube comments doesn't always work as well as it could, clearly, as the three replies are actually one all sent simultaneously. In a democratic process everyone is entitled to to an opinion and we know what yours is don't we? Please send some links to something you have actually done and, without any prejudice, will give you my honest appraisal of your own artistic efforts. Thanks for your time and your erudition

  • @SteveAmplifire While we're on the subject, the guitar sound is too distorted - Zal's guitar never sounded that thin and tinny. The drummer is in time, but playing a much more basic rhythm to that played by Ted McKenna. Playing a basic 2-step time when he could do so much more. Interesting to see you throwing your toys out fo the pram at other people's comments as well - if you put up your performance on youtube, be prepared for a critique which you may not appreciate. Toodle pip!

  • I don't have anything on youtube except some videos of my dog running around.

My opinion of your cover version of Swampsnake is not borne out of any malice. I don't know you or your band, and on the basis of this cover version I have no real desire to. SAHB have always been one of my faves. My favourite album is Next. My favourite track is Swampsnake. It means a lot to me. All power to the lassie singing it, but it was never meant to be sung by a lady! It just sounds fundementally wrong.

  • @OzzyDave6969 - Yeah right - from where you half-wit. The idiot drunk himself into the grave, where exactly will you br bringing him back from? I don't fault your gung-ho enthusiasm but you are still a half-wit. Something more erudite next time, in line with Alex's own well read appreciation of the arts would be good.

    Thank you for your time,

    SteveAmplifire

  • Good effort, I just love anything Alex Harvey related and if it keeps SAHB's music alive then good on ya!
