No Snafu was a Cajun, so he was Indian American. He is such a good character, but i have to say that now i watched the pacific a few times that Sledge really amazes me. Joe did such a good job. Specially in the Okinawa episode, when he loses his innocence and in the end finds it again. I love it. Snafu was never innocent, but still I love him as a character.
I just cant get enough of this scene. They should have won an emmy, both of them. Just saying it again haha. RIP sledge and snafu.

This is a beautiful scene, I love the chemistry these two actors have. Snafu looks really uncomfertable at first, then he tries to make a little joke by talking about dog years, when that fails he just slides next to slegde and touches his arm and says nothing. And that was just wat Sledge needed.
I love it, briliant acting on both sides. And I hate that Rami didn't win an emmy for his work as Snafu, he was simply perfect.

I didn't cry when Basilone died, but I cried like a baby during this scene. Sledge's part of the show is the only one that really got to me.

This show did win a emmy btw. You can watch all of the cast with tom etc on stage. It's a dam shame Rami wasn't nominated.
