New Orleans' unique Faubourg Tremé is arguably the oldest African American neighborhood in the United States. It is the home of jazz but also the birthplace of civil rights in the South.

  • Wow! What wonderful vintage film!

I love the shots of the second line dancing. My only regret is that this clip is so short.

Thanks for sharing this with the world.

  • this video is great by the way, can you tell me where i can get the full verson??

  • Beautiful video, but it mentions free blacks as a danger to slavery. The problem is that slavery was really racial, but matrilineal. You had a whole bunch of gens de colour livre and creoles who were not considered Black, but where fully aware they were Afrodescendants and didn't consider themselves White either. In fact, many owned slaves as well.

  • Nice video

  • TAKE IT TO THE STREETS lol you gave me some inspiration thanks

  • i loved this documentary...had to buy it to show my support.
