Megaesophagus Dog: Clouse in His New Bailey Box

Clouse, who suffers from Megaesophagus gets to have dinner in his Bailey Box I built for him.

He has been suffering from this disorder since he was a puppy. He is now 9 years old. After several different Vet's we finally found one that has diagnosed him with Megaesophagus. Even though he had this disorder Clouse grew to a plump 110 pounds. He is now trimmed down to 86 pounds. This was due to the disorder getting worse. Before we took him to the Vet he was very sick. The vet said he had pneumonia and he must have aspirated. His lungs are clear now and since I built the box he does not purge his food anymore.

Yes we let him have dried duck or chicken for treats... We limit it to one strip

I just got a puppy that was recently dianosed with this.. The vet told me that he needs surgery. Just wondering..did your dog every get/need surgery?! Is the surgery necessary?

is this condition more common in GSDs? Ive only seen this condition once before online, and it was also in another GSD..
