Here's another look at Idlewild Park's Dizzy Lizzy's Saloon. In my opinion, Dizzy Lizzy's Saloon is the main attraction at Idlewild Park in Ligonier, Pennsylvania. Dizzy Lizzy's is a modern version of the "Haunted Swing" ride, or "Tilt House" of the early part of the 20th century. This attraction was added to the park in 1999. Video taken on August 8, 2007.

  • i work at idlewild and am a tour guide for this attraction (have been for 6 years now) in this particular case the room simply revolves around you. the swing itself is stationary.

The swing has a pin holding it in place; however, in order for the room to spin the pin must be removed so the swing can in fact swing one way or the other depending on how the ride is balanced (how many people sit on one side compared to the other)

hopes this clears up any confusion :)

  • im not studio yu dumm azz bytch i didn't knowe dummy !!

  • @TheGymnasticboy1 Yeah they definitely go all the way upside down? how stupid can you get?

  • I thought the seatz move !!!!!

  • Whats this about?

  • Oh, I thought they were different since in this particular case the swing seems to be stationary while the drum moves around it (the people aren't strapped to the benches, the lady doesn't take a tumble, I don't see a "swing arm") while the Villa I mentioned sort of squished me between a steel bar and the benches and there's a massive swing arm. It was said to be the first large Madhouse with a moving swing, but since it's from 1996... Will go to Villa Volta coming Tuesday and ask for details.

  • A madhouse is just another name for a haunted swing ride, the principle of these rides are basically the same the room revolves around you and the swing that you sit in swings about 30 degrees in both directions to give you enough G force to give you the illusion that you are travelling a lot further than you actually are, its an amazing experience.

  • So the swing's not moving? So that's the difference between a Haunted Swing and a Mad House... I've been in a Dutch Mad House once and the swing there was moving at a 30 degree angle. Look up "Villa Volta" if you want to see it.

NOTE: A baby nearly took a plummet when it slipped from underneath the braces. -_-
