Inoue in the 2001 All Japan Judo Championship performing one of the best counter techniques I've seen.
One of the commentators calls it an uchimata sukashi, the commentator in the Budokan calls it uki otoshi. For me it's more a sumi otoshi maybe even an ouchi gaeshi.

  • accident?? are u crazy?!?!

    Perfect uchi mata sukashi!!!

  • Making a 250 pounds judo expert do a summersault in the air to fall flat on his back and making it seem effortless is more than AMAZING.

You obviuosly have not 'watched and experienced Judo counters' before.

  • Looks like a beautiful sumi otoshi to me.

  • Is this enson inoue? sorry if thats an amateur question haha

  • @hercmet

Those are the rules of judo and have always been. A throw that scores "ippon" ends the fight because it's assumed that it would incapacitate your opponent if it wasn't performed on tatami. You can keep fighting on the ground if the throw scored anything else than ippon.

  • I love Inoue's Uchimata! What's your favorite technique? Comment on my UCHI MATA VIDEO to let everybody know!! Lets see which throws are popular...

Check Out My Uchi Mata Video!

  • one good throw and the fight is over ...why ? it doesn't make sence .give him the points but let them fight on the ground ...

  • Hate to disagree but it was an ouchi gari. If you want to know how you can tell definitively look at the kuzushi and the foot placement. This takes nothing away from the counter though, it is perfect. Kuzushi for Uchimata is not forward and to the side. Also, pay attention to his lapel grip.

  • this is not a counter to uchimata; the attacker was trying ouchigari. If you listen carefully you can even hear the commentator say this near the end.

  • awesome!!

  • This is what happens when you commit to an uchi mata and miss the leg :/ Yes I know he missed the leg because Inoue moved it, but the concept is still the same.

  • This guy personally taught me entries into uchi-mata
