We caught up w/ Speech of the Grammy Award winning group Arrested Development and asked him how the legendary group was doing. He said they do well overseas. The group gets more love out the country than within.. We then talked about the viability of Black music and why so many African Americans abandon various genres like Jazz and blues

  • people don't wanna hear knowledge spittin and uplifting music. they want that gangsta shit. That gucci mane and jeezy!

  • nice I was there that night and filmed some of the show.. Thanks for sharing.. I'll release a video sometime by summer..Peace

  • @koloray Very true and to elaborate on your point further I do agree 100 percent about institutional racism and also the corporate illuminati controlled systems that own bet, vh1, mtv. It is sad and like Self Scientific said we need to "Return"

  • Ain't that the truth!! Preach on, Speech!

  • speech is right in principle.....i wouldn't frame it as "lack of support". black folk have a fixation with the newest, the latest, the most stylish;music clothing, shoes, slang etc.i think this is a direct result of the effects of institutional racism...we are still reacting to exclusion from "white" society...the newer the better-the closer i am to "power" money influence....sad.

  • one of my favorite hip hop singer.

  • Real Spit.

Just a few names come to mind:

Sam Cooke, Jackie Wilson, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Mahalia Jackson, Etta James (they had Beyonce sing her song at the inauguration when Etta is still alive and performing. Where dey do dat at?), Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters, Solomon Burke...there's so many more. List em if you've got names!

  • Speech your exactly right my brotha and its a sad shame that in this millenium we are still falling victim to a lack of unity.

  • Speech is awesome

  • Someone is saying it and it is worth repeating. Amen.
