A demonstration of starting a fire with a Plexiglas fire piston in about 2 and 1/2 minutes.
It works by rapidly compressing air into a much smaller volume, where temperature is essentially multiplied by this compression. Temperatures can reach anywhere from 400°F to 800°F depending on the initial volume of air and how rapidly it is compressed, thereby igniting the tinder.
The fire piston is an ancient and reliable method of fire making.
