Hey guys. I drew Rarity today and uploaded it real quick and here it is. Nothing fancy or special just Rarity.

I tried to slow it down enough so you guys could see how I do sketch lines and ink lines. I also showcase two different coloring methods I use. Thanks for watching!

  • I love your videos so much. They are a wealth of experience for a beginner artist like me. I'm curious though. In OpenCanvas do you experience lag when you stroke on your tablet? I currently use photoshop and sometimes get long delays between my stroke and the pixels appearing. I'm just comparing drawing environments since I haven't found one I really like yet.

  • @OmarianVolcae I forget the options, but there's something you can disable that helps IMMENSELY with photoshop and its lag. OpenCanvas does not experience this problem since it is a MUCH lighter program.

Yeah Photoshop eats resources like candy and even more so the less powerful your computer. Not suggesting yours is underpowered, but there's a possibility. Explore around a bit or do some googling for the problem because I know it can be solved.

  • @Valcron I tried tinkering with many of the performance settings. They didn't seem to help much, but I have noticed that it seems to warm up after a few minutes of using the application... You aren't my tech support guy though.

As far as digital art options go, would you recommend giving it a try?

  • @OmarianVolcae Giving OpenCanvas a try? Sure. It's pretty ight and doesn't take too terribly long to get used to. This is a fair warning though; as far as I know there is no support for custom hotkeys. It kind of stinks but I've been used to it for the last 4-5 years!

Also I currently use OpenCanvas version 4.06E. The latest version is 5.0 but it changes too much of what I know for me to use it.

  • what tablet do you use?

  • @tomol6 Wacom Intuos4 medium.

  • Can you make a video of you inking a sketch of yours but zoom in to it so we can see what you are doing at a normal speed? i am amazed at how easy some people make it look and also, did you stay zoomed out the entire time well drawing this, How can you be so precise!?

  • Are you using a touch screen or tablet or mouse?

  • fuu, no matter what I try, my lines in OpenCanvas come out all jittery and crap, does OpenCanvas have any kind of Stabiliser or something to teh stabiliser that other Graphic editing Program's have that fixes this problem?

  • @Epzmah Have you tried watching it? It's good, there's a reason so many people have an interest for it.
