  • At one part of the video it seemed like to the more load he gave it the faster it wanted to climb!! Awsome!! I've always loved Spits and you can never go wrong with the Merlin!! I think that engine served perfectly in every application except steep dive. Every good thing has to have at least one weakness right. Awsome vid!! Love the par at the end when he starts to land but pours on the throttle once again. Never get tired of that sound.

  • @texasccl2 Ditto! Thank God that beautiful Merlin sound wasn't over-dubbed with stupid music!

  • @ItsyBitsyII Most XVIs had the clipped wingtips but some did have the standard wingtips

  • Beautiful, but I don't believe that is a Mark XVI. IF I am correctly informed, the Mark XVI's had a clipped, squared wing tip.

  • To antique today's color video you have to increase the grain, kill the chroma, add scratches and tape edits, throw away dozens of fields to get 24 fps and never, ever, zoom. Being wildly out of focus helps with the effect and be sure there's no natural sound. Also no scene would be longer than 10 seconds or so because you had wind the camera up in between shots. It's such a pleasure to shoot today's HD video that going back to an eyemo is horrifying.

  • Beautiful footage!

  • My! OH! MY! What a beautiful sound and original era footage. Truly a classic sound for one's ears.

  • thats nice :)

  • @AceInTheMaking The Mk VIII had the C wing with two 20mm cannons and four .303 caliber machine guns. This Mk XVI had the E wing with two 20mm cannons and two .50 caliber machine guns. The Mk IX had both C and E wing armaments.

  • beautiful spitfire
