  • for me was interesting question from Academie Francaise to Clerc in ( I think about 1810s):

    What is difference do you find between the Abee de l'Epee and the abbe Sicard?

    his answer was:

    "The Abbe de l'Epee had invented the method for instructing the deaf, but he had left it in an imperfect state; the Abbe Sicard perfected the method, it is true, but without the Abbe de l'Epee, there would have been no Abbe Sicard"
