Wingsuit jump goes horribly wrong

This was only my fourth wingsuit jump and it went wrong.. fast. The other three had been relatively uneventful and I think I relaxed a bit too much. Went into a flat spin and couldn't correct it for several thousand feet. Ended up getting out it but couldn't see for a while then when my sight came back the world was spinning even though I was flying straight. Ended up pulling 3k lower than I was supposed to. I even took out the windsock on landing! Never been so glad to touch the ground.

Dude, that took you far too long to get out of that spin. Didn't you learn the three steps to follow in such case? !) arch&relax if that does not work 2) grab your ankles and ball up - it you can't: 3) Pull! You better be hanging under a twisted main in high altitude than spinning down and get a twisted reserve in Cypres-altitude.

@freifallspoiler I agree with you on the amount of time in spin. I was trying all different combos of arch and relax but having never experienced it with the WS on the muscle mem wasn't there. I was still in good height when I finally worked it out but I flew too long as I wasn't aware how much I'd lost. I just got on with the rest of the jump as planned. It was my alti that alerted me to my height. The funny thing was my instructor wasn't nearly as pissed off with me as I was!

@freifallspoiler I think that's normal. If you're not bothered about your performance, safety and position in the air you're not only a danger to yourself but more importantly a danger to everyone else.

@MrNovacain1 I tell you what though.. there's no better feeling than being in a rickety old plane WITH a parachute on and knowing that you're actually WAAAAY more comfortable out the door than in!! ;0)
