A short film we made to open the Shetland Film Festival!
The film examines the destruction of identity that can result from drug misuse.

Thanks to YouTube for the feature!
Seriously, we can't thank you enough for all the good things that have come from the feature!

Thanks to STV for the story in us! But they got the interpretation all wrong. The true meaning behind the film is listed above.

Also a HUGE thank you to Shetland Arts for providing us a meeting point and all the equipment used during the creation of this film. Without them, we wouldn't even have made it far enough to make this film.

We love Mark Kermode! Thanks to him for posting a link in his blog! http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/markkermode for his analysis of the film.

We also LOVE Amanda Palmer for linking us in her blog too! We're SO glad she likes it :D

We were unfortunately unable to show the film on the opening night with the rest of our work due to its adult themes. Instead, it was shown before the original 'Vanishing'.

We are extremely proud of it! And we would LOVE to hear any feedback we can get!
We would really appreciate it.

  • This is what I know:

You guys are in still in high school which is awesome - keep going! Keep creating your art, you guys have done something great.

I also know you got commissioned to do this or something like that? And that this film got banned from the competition that asked for it in the first place.

This is what I know and want to pass on:

YOUR ART ROCKS - it's slow to begin, but a fantastic second half. It's their loss if they don't want you art.

    Keep going. Stay hungry.

  • Just to clear up any misunderstanding - we were asked to make a series of films for a film festivla and this is one of them that we did. We had a night where we showcased our films and unfortuantly we couldn't play this on that night.

However, Shetland Arts (the organisers) played it before another film during the festival which was great.

    Thanks for the support!

  • wow... that was amazing. It definitely gave me chills.

  • I found this short film quite by accident when I was searching for Slide by the Dresden Dolls, and what a seridipidous event that I should find this video! This is one of my favourite videos on Youtube. It is powerful, beautiful, and thought provoking. I always get a shiver when the person with the "save me" sign appears. Incredibly well done! It's sad that so many people use drugs as a means of escape when in reality drugs create a cage out of their own bodies in which they are imprisoned

  • 3 years on. this is still one of the best films on youtube.

  • whats the song

  • A good video concept, but I'm left feeling like you guys only partially understood the song. Perhaps a different one would have been more appropriate.

  • awesome, but soooo sad!

  • this is actually outstanding

  • brill guys

    go maddrim!!!!

  • really cool

  • Well done to all involved, I'm sure Mr Kermode is helping this film get the attention it still otherwise deserves. Alcohol is still the scariest drug in my experiences of the Islands.
