haha the umpire doesn't get it :D

She surely deserved to win the WTTC. Just take a look at her topspin. Very fast. The best woman right now.

@masterdannyboy1212 Theoretically, he/she is allowed to enter the opponent's territory and play the shot - so practically, this 'was' possible in this case as well. (have been done before a lot of times)

@stephenyiu1 No, you're wrong... The dark side need to hit the ball first and THEY failed. The umpire was such an idiot. He couldn't even see if Ding hit the ball correctly, he just thought "well, can't believe she still reached the ball in time, let's give the dark team the point"

umpire made mistake

@VS08540 its funny how you mention wheelchair play. I watched a wheelchair on a pretty high level and its incredible what they do. If they have the chance they try to give a high backspin ball all the time and they managed to do this 90% of the time, its amazing. Great athletes in my opinion. I was wondering if there are vids on youtube from wheelchair players?
thx for the vid
red, will get the point, black touch the table

Touching the table with the racket hand (the right hand in this case) is legal. The left hand only touched the table when the point was already over, after the ball had bounced for the second time. Red wins the point because the opponent did not manage to return the ball, that is to hit it before this second bounce. Touching the table was irrelevant here.

dark should of got the point, they did not have a chance to hit it, and it's standard rules, they have to touch the ball for it to count as going over the net. this would be used as an advantage in other games, using backspin without the other team touching it.

Sorry, you're just wrong, there is no such "rule". Also, even with the backspin the opponent has a chance to get to the ball if she recognizes the spin and runs around the side of the table. (Even in wheelchair play this would be a point for the red team.)

the umpire is correct. If the ball goes back after, the red side needs to take the turn to hit... (and they failed). SO THE DARK side gets the point.. (forgive my poor english)

Please read my description. The umpire was confused first (this was an unusal situation) but then quickly corrected himself. The red team wins the point.
