Siboney is actually an small coastal town in SAntiago de Cuba CUBA..that picure is the actual beach there..I've swam on that beach some 2000 times... :-)

Somebody suggested that it is about Lecuona's homesickness for Siboney - which sounds rather farfetched to me - apart from having little or nothing to do with the words which Lecuona himself wrote. Totally unaware that there was a beach with the Siboney name. Siboney is actually the name of an Indian tribe found in Cuba at the time of the discovery of Cuba by the great admiral Christopher Columbus. And of course is one of many great songs composed by that giant of Cuban Music Ernesto Lecuona. Among all Lecuona's song, Siboney is very, very popular.

love this song when I was a little girl 1968 the last trip my family and I took in Cuba before leaving was to visit El Cobre and then my Dad took us to SIBONEY to see the beach and the small town...he introduced us to the SONG on that day I will always remember it the song and the place holds a very special place in my heart....

was born in santiago in 1949 came to the states in 1956BC ( before Castro) Iguess i'll never see it again. I've seen some documetries and its nothing like it was.
