By Yap Films - www.yapfilms.com

Put Me Together Again was shot over a period of 10 months -- following people who have suffered a brain injury through accident or unexpected illness. Kay, a single mum, lost her ability to make new memories after she was mugged and hit over the head when her daughter was 11. She can now never remember that her daughter comes to visit her or that her daughter is now 16. Robert, an aeronautical engineer at the top of his career, has a stroke and now arranges feathers and toilet rolls in his room in patterns only he understands.

Both subjects in 'Put Me Together Again' live at a leading brain rehab unit where the efforts to re-train their brain happen with painstaking effort and tiny steps of progress. This film was a chance to again explore the themes of people who behave differently to ourselves and challenge our stereotypes of people who look the same on the outside but their behaviour is unpredictable and often socially unacceptable.

"Anna Hall's film carefully teased out the essential humanity in these stories, bravely pointing up the unavoidably funny aspects. .. as well as the shocking violence. Overall, though, sadness was the dominant theme, of lives lived in suspension and the devastating impact such conditions have not just on sufferers but on those who care for them as well."
The Daily Telegraph, 23 June 2006. 'Put Me Together Again'
