2 Watt IR Laser

A short demo of my new 2w 808nm handheld laser. From matches to woodburning. This laser is built in a custom machined aluminum host, driver is two 1400mA disks from DX in parallel, diode is a 2W 808nm c-mount from "snoctony" on ebay, lens is an aixiz lens for red laser, battery is a single 18650 lithium ion cell.

What is it for?

@subexpression It comes in handy for lighting fireworks. I also use it sometimes in the building of RC planes from colored foam. It will not cut or drill white foam, however.

@billg519 in need of an IR laser to kill toenail fungus. do not know how powerful the ones the foot docs use. But i think i could improve on the technique.

please help me with the tech stuff. find out what the docs use and how powerful it is and how i can make my own. thanks

@triggerja It would take a medical specialist to determine these answers. Be very careful, as laser burns can be excruciatingly painful.

@billysgeo This diode will not cut sheet metal and would be very iffy on balsa. You would get better results with a CO2 laser system.
