this is my fav star trek movie .. top 3 star trek 4,2,6 imo ps : i think the sixth movie is a bit like the unsung hero you should really watch it ... its really amazing

True story, I took the kids to the local science museum and at one point I entered an older space exhibit. I became confused that I couldn't seem to interact with the computer screens like I could in the other exhibits. That's when I realized that ball thingie with an old arcade button adjacent on the counter in front of me was a trackball mouse. I couldn't help but utter: "A mouse... how quaint!".

You don't quite get all the information about who invented what or who designed this or that equation. And we are talking about materials here. You get to work with wonderfull materials but never ask yourself who invented it. Unless you investigate yourself, the average university won't tell you, except on some cases. There is so much material you have to digest at the university! Ask the average engineer about things he work with and its inventors. Surprise!

I never understood why afterwards Scotty said to McCoy "How do we know that he didn't invent the thing?" Aren't they from the future, and Scotty being an engineer would surely know who discovered transparent aluminium in his timeline. Can somebody explain ?
