I never thought I was going to ever see a Penn Central locomotive in commercial use, or in my lifetime for that matter. The locomotive(a GP38-2, i believe) has obviously seen better days, and is now owned by the Sequatchie Valley Railroad, a local railroad out of Jasper, Tennessee. The SQVR has a bunch of rare locomotives, but must have used it's budget on that, because it is poor as dirt. There are some videos, about 6-8, on YouTube and is obviously not the richest railroad. The old PC marks on each end of the locomotive are obvious due to the off-color patches, and the "345'' is covering up the bigger PC mark.

  • About a year ago I saw one of SQVR's locos rolling through Winder, GA on CSX's Abbeville sub (lashed up behind CSX power) and it looked a lot nicer than this one...maybe they're not THAT poor. :)

  • @Pellaz2112 their trackage and yard aren't that nice though. there's an old NS slug shell just sitting in the weeds there.

  • Awesome catch! That's so amazing to see Penn Central black this far past the demise of the PC. I might be wrong, but it looks like an ex-PC, ex-PRSL GP38 to me. The short front cab gives it away!

  • @fleecejackets it is ex-PC, i looked it up. this locomotive is now owned by the Walking Horse & Eastern Railway.

  • @rockguitarist946 Ya I was j/s like pre-PC looks like it's ex-PRSL

  • @fleecejackets no, i'm pretty sure it's ex-PC, because the "345" is covering up the patch over the "PC" logo. and look at some of the shots of the patches over the "PC", on some of them it's obvious that there was PC markings there at one time

  • @rockguitarist946 my bad, i misunderstood you

  • LOUIS STFU YOU FAGGOT

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!It kinda looks like a GP40-2 Anyway check out my channel. More train vidz coming .

  • Get a paintbrush, and paint the Penn Central logo on it :)

  • @fleecejackets IIRC the ex-PSRL GP38's had no dynamics brakes

  • @fleecejackets Its not PC black. This engine did make it to Conrail ( CR 7824) and it did get painted blue before being sold to the P&LE. Became P&LE 2041 ( where it got painted black again) CRL 345 AGLF 345 NCYR 345 then SQVR 345 The paint outs everyone think is of PC logos is actually paint outs of G&O logos.

  • @nysw252 The painted out Gulf and Ohio Markings are what everyone is mistaking for painted out PC markings. They are not. Go to railroad picture archives, click on search by railroad and enter SQVR in the box where it says search by reporting marks. You can then see photos of this locomotive as well as links to photos of this locomotive as it evolved over time.

  • While this engine is of Penn Central lineage, the paint IS NOT PC. It started out as Penn Central 7824, a GP38 originally ordered for the PRSL. The PRSL cancelled the order and they went to the PC (It has the built out windshield for dual controls.) It became Conrail 7824 and did get blue paint. It then became P&LE 2041. Thats where it got painted black again. It became Conrail Lease 345 when the P&LE went bust. It then became AGLF 345, then NCYR 345 where it got Gulf and Ohio logos and the 345.

  • looks like a Former G&O NCYR unit
