Since it was the end of the semester, I decided to make some Mn2O7 by dehydrating potassium permanganate in conc. sulfuric acid. It forms a SUPER powerful oxidizer. So much so that after the video was turned off, I added too much to some ethyl acetate, and it exploded the test tube and sent the Mn2O7 and glass shards everywhere. Luckily I didn't get hurt. I edited a few parts out of the video where I was moving stuff, and when I added some to toluene. For some reason the toluene didn't do anything, not entirely sure why. I added the Mn2O7 to Ethanol, Methanol, Ether, Hexane, Toluene (not shown), and a piece of candy + Ethyl Acetate. The last 15 seconds is the most exciting, so at 3:30 .
