I wish I could do that...but the horse I ride a) isn't mine and b) once the saddle is off, there is no way he will do anything but graze (ive tried riding him bareback to just graze, every time i try to get him to walk back to the barn he bucks or just backs up...meh...so i have to hop off his big ol' back and walk him back

@backroadscountrygrl its nothing to do with how much you trust your horse. Its common sense. Anything could happen. The horse could trip, spook etc. Ive got a 18yr old who is so lazy its a sruggle to get him to canter, but I still wouldnt get him without a helmet. You cant trust any horse 100%. Its better to be safe then sorry.

i dont care what anybody thinks, if you've been riding 1 year or 18 years just because your a better rider does NOT mean your not exposed to the same things, what if the horse flips over a jump? that doesnt imply to riding skill now does it. i dont care about shoes or clothing cuz if a horse steps on ur foot at least you wont die or loose half your memory or get perminant brain damage

Lol! You looked great! I just started riding bareback, and honestly, I can only walk. Nevermind trotting, cantering... or even jumping ! Aha. But if I work at it, it'll all be good. :)

ahh if either of you last commenters want to ship me a helmet I'll give you an address.. and really honestly people have been riding horses for thousands of years, you think everyone always had helmets and heeled shoes? moral of the story-I lived. and this is my baby I have ridden her for over 7 years give me a break I wouldn't do this on your horse in a million years..

oh yeah.. she's so out of control. that's why i can ride her without a saddle, bridle, shoes..
