We bumped a few travel vlogs from the editing queue (we are always about 3 weeks behind) to bring you our hunting thanksgiving special in real-time. We filmed this today on the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. Worlds cutest hunting dog (well he isn't really a hunting dog, just along for the walk)

We go partridge (ok well a slang for Ruffed Grouse) hunting for our turkey meal. The Ruffed Grouse is frequently referred to as a "partridge". This may be technically wrong. Grouse are related to turkeys, quail etc but the grey partridge was introduced from Europe. There are no grouse in a pear tree (12 days of Christmas) . Ruffed Grouse will frequently seek gravel and clover along road beds during early morning and late afternoon. Grouse use sand/gravel to dust their feathers to rid themselves of pests and to help them digest food. Grouse are omnivores. We had a safe and compliant time. IN Ontario there are rigorous laws and regulations for small game hunting to ensure a healthy population and hunter safety.

  • good video, but just to clear up the grouse anatomy. what you called his stomach is his crop. where they hold there food. as birds have no true stomachs. when you clean them you know that rock hard red ball inside them is the gullet. where they keep the gravel to grind up the food out of the crop piece by piece, cut it open next time and you will see the gravel food and pads on the side used for physical digestion.

  • @mattevanswastaken - tru tru - Thanks much appreciate the comments :)

  • i just came back from northern ontario from a moose hunt but i tell u i had more fun shooting grouse then going for moose

  • GREAT VID!!!!

  • @spoomite No squirrels were harmed in the making of this vlog. That was an unintentional funny edit. Thanks for watching.

  • Okay....this one is reasonably tolerable, especially when you licked beard after rubbing a dirty partridge feather in it. And the kill shot of the partridge, that was awesome. And the editing that made it look like you shot the squirrel.

For future reference, a more Hitler appropriate saying might be, "Nein Nein Nein!"

  • @omaman92 birds or impressions? I agree with the impression (they aren't my strong suit). The limit for birds is 5, we stopped at 3 enough to feed the family. :)
