*Couperin's Preface:
"These pieces are suitable not only for the harpsichord, but also the violin, the flute, the oboe, the viol and the bassoon. I wrote them for the little chamber concerts commanded by Louis XIV almost every Sunday throughout the year. The pieces were performed by Messieurs Duval [violinist], Philidor [oboist and bassoonist], Alarius [gambist], and Dubois [basoonist]: I myself played the harpsichord. In the hope that they will please the general public as they did the late King, I herewith publish several complete volumes"

I could listen to this all day. I love Couperin and French Baroque in particular. Well I'm crazy about Baroque period. French Baroque ornamentation is so elegant .

Why terrible? Louis the XIVth has been one of the most remarkable king of France. Thank for his taste for fine arts, we owe him many agreable works.

Thanks so much, I brought a cassette with Couperin's work from Europa years ago and is one of my favorites but the technology is old and now I can enjoy this great music on the road.

I recommend that you listen to the 4th concert of this set that I uploaded, particularily the Forlane - Rondeau. It's the happiest and most beautiful movement of the entire set.
