Check out the Science City staffs famed foaming pumpkin science demonstration! This special demonstration is performed every year at the Mad Science City Halloween Celebration. Mad Science City Halloween is an evening of safe and fun Halloween activities, demonstrations, city exploration, candy and more! We look forward to you joining us next year!

How it's done:
The Foaming Pumpkin Demonstration is a chemical reaction that combines yeast, hydrogen peroxide, dish soap, and food coloring. In this reaction two things occur: 1) Oxygen is rapidly released by a catalyst and caught in soapy bubbles 2) Heat is created in an exothermic reaction, which is visible as the hot steam rising from the foamy bubbles. All of this chemical reaction occurs inside a carved pumpkin, which then oozes or shoots out of the mouth, nose and eyes, creating the Famous Foaming Pumpkin.
