Music and songs for the stage adaptation of Nikos Kazantzakis' novel of the same name performed by the Greek Popular Theatre under the direction of Manos Katrakis. The lyrics comprised various sentences in the book, whose selection and composition into seven entities was undertaken by Yerassimos Stavrou.
First recording: July 1966

I didn't know that. Thanks! Guess it's little closer to Alexander's home than Crete. Unfortunately my experience of Thessaloniki the city is limited to the bus station, experienced a couple of times during minimum budget transits from Athens to Istanbul.

the very sad thing is that promoting Greece that time, was identical with promoting the coronels' dictatorship. Very sad and contradictional... If things were different in Greece when Nana, at the peak of her career, was enchanting the world introducing the music of her country to the end of the universe, the benefit would be even greater...
