@jum1801 Yes! I remember those days, too! My grandparents LOVED this show. I always thought it was a bit ... well, unnaturally super nice? And mocked it, too. But now I listen, and realize that the Lennon's were actually pretty good. (But I still think they acted a bit too unnaturally nice!)

Kathy's voice is similar to Diane's, a bit lighter and airier. All four Lennon girls sang with wonderful breath control, wonderful appreciation of the lyrics, a sense of rhythm and a lilt, plus total sincerity.

We grew up in the 50's-60's and would pretend to mock the Welk show as corny. Our parents and g'parents would NOT miss a show, every Saturday at 6:00 our time. But we never missed it either! We loved Lawrence Welk because our family did..although we'd never tell them. And I had a huge crush on the Lennon Sisters!
Today I can't wait to see the Welk reruns that come on PBS. And of course it's on at 6:00 on Saturdays! It's so good to watch such a sweet show from an innocent time.

One of my favorite songs (Bing Crosby sang it also). One of my favorite girls (Kathy). And one of my favorite Lawrence Welk singers (Steve). ShirlGirl, keep posting these clips, girlie. You are the best.
