(cont.) So long story short, dubstep is already an amalgamation of a reggae subgenre and an electronic dance music subgenre. To say reggae + dubstep = anything is absurd, as reggae is already in the DNA of dubstep - haven't you ever wondered where the words 'dub' and 'step' come from?
If youve only heard the distorted, tear-out strand of dubstep which in no way resembles early dubstep, then I could see where the confusion comes from. But now everybody should know better - so go rock some dub!

I wish you were trolling. DUB began in the 70s in Jamaica as a way of remixing reggae tunes. Producers like King Tubby and Lee Perry made reverberant and echo-heavy mixes of popular Jamaican songs with most of the instruments stripped out besides the drums and bass, which were amped way up.
30 years later, British producers started to apply Dub-inspired values to Garage and 2-step music - halftime tempos, huge bass and drums with sparse other instruments. Thus dubstep.
