Tropicana hotel wing implosion - Las Vegas

The Tropicana hotel's 300-room add-on wing is imploded on November 9, 2010. The structure was built in 1962 and was demolished to make room for a new entrance/valet--part of the Trop's massive renovation. Video footage by Greg Clarke.

ANOTHER classic bites the dust. At least in Palm Springs they save their hotels and re furb them,. what a shame this continues in L.V.

@birdie2219 Actually it was just this one wing of rooms that got demolished....the main part of the Trop is being refurbished in very good taste.....it looks great in there.....

im very glad that the Trop made it through the great recession. The whole resort has this new vibrant feel to it now. I stayed in the tiffany tower in December and the rooms are nicer than the Luxor and even the Monte Carlo.

I got woken up to this when I was in Vegas that week, and it was my first time there. I was staying at New York New York across the and I could feel the room shake after the charges were set off. I thought it was an air-bomb simulation coming from the jet fighters of Nellis AFB at the time, but then I could see the dust coming from the Tropicana. If I'd known that the wing was getting demolished, I'd have come down to watch it.
