i had the pleasure of living in san marcos for a little over a year when i was a kid in 1991 ( i was 11) i had so much fun that summer in the river, such good times! i remember back then how this area was it was just one water fall. at that time it was not unusual to find real authentic native american arrow heads and many other native pottery etc. in the river! the fishing was un real, such huge clean fresh cat fish, perch, blue gills, etc. just a magical place with so much history.

I went to SWTSU in the 70's and the old building by the first falls was called the ice house. We would be able to jump off of it from 25 or 30 ft. high. There used to be a huge tree with a rope swing, but it appears to be gone. I would also climb that tree to jump from it's limbs. It sure could be a dangerous, and therefore a fun place. Many blessings for sharing your video and bringing my memories of those days back!

Thanks for posting it. I went to college at Texas State and liked it so much that I stayed there for almost 10 yrs after I graduated.

The deepest part is about 5 feet 6 inches (1.7m) ... up to my shoulders... mostly it's about 3 or 4 feet (0.9m to 1.2m) deep... and along the edges are rocks set like stepping stones... 2 feet (60cm) deep. The place is awesome.

@JamsnStuff Well yeah... under the second set of falls is about 14 ft deep... and it's 21 feet at the first falls by the restaurant. (We had a divers depth gauge.) But they were talking about the general area above the set of three falls... which is mostly 5 to 6 feet deep.

Go to Google Maps and type in: 29.8788 , -97.9332 which will take you to the park. You will likely need to park next to the railroad tracks and walk over.

Thanks... I have a lot of fun doing it. Just got back from swimming today... I want to do more... I found out you can swim underwater across the falls... the current goes OVER you if you keep low enough. I went down to the bottom and crawled across myself! (Now I gotta figure out how to make a video of that.)
