This is our first attempt at a cooking show, where we demonstrate how to make Mickey Beignets, found at Cafe Orleans and the Blue Bayou. The recipe and instructions are as follows:

1 package Active Dry Yeast
1 1/2 cups Warm Water
1/2 cup Sugar
1 tsp. Salt
2 Eggs
1 cup Evaporated Milk
8 cups All Purpose Flour
1/4 cup Shortening
Canola Oil for Frying
Confectioners Powdered Sugar

In a large mixing bowl, sprinkle yeast over water; stir to dissolve. Add sugar, salt, eggs and milk. Blend with blender. Add 4 cups flour; beat smooth. Add remaining flour and shortening, and mix well. Cover with plastic wrap and chill overnight. Roll out on floured surface to 1/8 inch thick. Cut into Mickey shapes. Deep fry at 360 degrees for 20-30 seconds per side until lightly browned on both sides. Drain on paper towel and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve immediately!

  • Also, you can also find very good, fresh, warm beignets at the Jazz Kitchen at Downtown Disney (though they are not Mickey shaped!)

  • @MyDisneyPinCollectio You're right, they are awesome! And they have some great dipping sauces. I get them to go and eat them on the way home while CL is driving :-).

  • I've been to a french restaurant where they pronounced it the same way as you--I wouldn't worry about it! :) I really enjoy your videos.

  • @MyDisneyPinCollectio I'm not worried about it.. that's the point. If you view the second video in the series (S01E02), right at the beginning I explain this.. it's intended as a running joke :-). Glad you're enjoying the videos!

  • You're pronouncing the name completely wrong dude. Stop butchering my people's dessert.

  • @CHiP201205 Do you not see any of the other comments here?

  • @luckychar22 it's pronounced "ben-yays" not "ben-yets" like this guy is saying.

  • @luckychar22 Watch the next video where the sauces for these beignets are made.

  • How can u pronounce them improperly!?

  • @AMouseAndADream Haha. That is perfect!!! Now you can make double batches and an assistant can have their own cutter to use!
