Got a new Macbook Pro. Needed to see what it can and can't do in a reasonable timeframe. Test compiled with random vids taken in Perth and graded with a stock Magic Bullet preset. Not exactly the best editing, was more-so interested in how much the effects would bog down my system like it did on my older Macbook. Still unhappy with the overall timeframe - guess I'll have to bite the bullet and convert it to 720 at the start of my workflow. Thought I might as well upload it since this channel hardly gets used anymore.

Render time just over 3 hours on a 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 with 8GB RAM. After Effects & Premiere Pro 5.5. Output to standard H.264 Youtube HD 720 Premiere Pro preset.

  • why did it take so long to render 3min 3hours that's crazy

  • @pkilla617 when you're dealing with high bitrate 1080 video with color correction and effects, thats kinda normal for a standard consumer grade machine.

  • Yeah fuck 1080, for time it takes to render I personally don't think its worth uploading at such a high resolution. But cool shots nonetheless :)

  • @Yates94 yeah, I totally want to force myself to work with 720 but my camera has crappy bitrates at 720 resolution and I'm always too lazy to transcode it to a reasonable format. The joys of knowing what pro gear can do and expecting cheap point n' shoots built for still to do the same :P

  • Dunno why, but I rather enjoyed this random snapshot of the city. :P~

  • @Devar kinda mesmerising once I sat down and looked at it properly. Would have been passable if I brought a tripod and composed my shots properly :)

  • Looks really good, like the colors! I see that you edit with a mac, and I may have something that will help you handle the .mts files. It's an app that re-wraps .mts files to .mov without any quality loss and its free. Search /watch?v=RA1A7c98tUI and see my description if your interested.

  • I'm with Devar. Looks great.

  • I was disappointed that the car at the end didnt explode or at the very least catch fire.

  • Surprisingly beautiful for a render test.

  • @thatgrumguy dslr video ftw :p
