One of my favorite movies. Glad it finally came out in dvd! I admire the screenplay after reading the book. The screenplay hits all the main points very well. Aprox 5 characters are condensed into one Koda Dad played by Omar Shariff. Art Malik is wonderful in this. So many stars. I recognized "Belinda" in a Hetty Wainthropp episode. In the book and film, Ashton has a narrow face, and Anjuli Bai is half Russian - both have fair skin. Wonderful romantic movie. 303 minutes is too short!

Nice film but story doesn't seem realistic and historically unaccurate. Good actors but not well chosen. Little too commercial. One character is really interesting tough, that Wally Hamilton because he has truly existed.
