bravo pepper, you approached the teaching method in the right way, engouraging people to use their technique in what way feels best while still giving slight guidance and i have to say sarod picking is amazing and thank you for helping surface this technique to people. i have to say once i got it down it opened up an easier playing style for me so i personally thank you and generally thank you for those who can't!! keep it up!!
Hey Pebber- You're great man, really, I love your approach. Question, I know that it depends on the person but in your opinion do you have to use Sarod picking in conjunction with Scalpel picking? Also, when you are playing like this (sarod/scalpel) do you use alternate picking patterns? I know these questions are certainly conditional, and I hope I'm not overstepping my bounds for free info, but I was just curious. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO!!

@Sharden86 The way I do Sarod, Scalpe picking is part of it - a rather modified system from the original Sarod.

It's funny to me that most of the people who came here for lessons are most likely shredders but you actually kind of got me out of the shredding phase and into the 'playing inside the music' phase. Although I do still shred when it's appropriate.

@abdal0wnsj00 Shredding is what we all got awed with when we first discovered Electric Guitar. Its no different now than it was in the 1960's with Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page ripping it up. The 1970's produced a dozen really fast lead players that blew everyone away. But once you get heavy into music you realize there are a million more colors and sounds out there that exist other than one narrow pathway of shredding. Even more later you may find jazz and classical music to intrigue you.
