Got a 2000 Ford Focus 2.0 DOHC.
Since the day i got it, 2 years ago at 92k miles to 162k miles it would randomly die as if it were out of gas.

After replacing, air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, wires, battery, PCV valve, even replaced airintake unit with a SRI, it still would randomly die.
Found out i had an expired extended warrenty on my fuel pump.
When going to replace the pump i saw the little sock filters going into the fuel pump housing, and the sock going into the fuel pump had 85% of them covered in SKUM.
Cleaned them up an so far so good...

Look at my myspace link to see pictures of them...
(pictures of my cars in this album, just scroll to the bottem to see it..)

  • i have a ford focus lx 2000 and its standard but its weird cuz i was at a stop light and all of a sudden a loud bang started inside the engine any1 no wat thats means ?

  • @elpasomusicent Everyone's default answer, and mine, a backfire?

  • I have a 2000 Ford focus SE 2.0 DOHC 5 speed and have NEVER had any problems with my car ever. We bought it new in June of 2000 I took it over 5 years later in June of 05 and she is still going strong today besides normal wear and tear. 102k miles on her and still going strong. It's a damn good car.

  • @smalltownkid2004 Very good car :) The car just hit 200k miles from the guy i sold it to. He has been doing basic things to it to keep it strong. Nothing major.

He says the CEL is still on, but he has changed the o2 analyzers so we're sure the cat is bad, but oh well, we don't live in cali :D

  • the air filter mod gives you 30 extra horses. :D

  • @MrEvoPhil it is rated at something like that, but you h ave to be at like 5000rpms to have it, when you running 2000 you only get 4 extra HP. So really its not BIG of a chance unless you are gunning it :)

Makes a very nice sound though!

  • @viper19861986 i got to shit

  • totally wish i would have found this video when i had my focus. i let it go when i was having this problem and couldn't solve it. i love that car. i had mine for 4 years.

  • @viper19861986 Haha I love it man.. and whenever I get a new car I think Im just gonna keep her around lots of memories. Ive had it since I was 16 and Im fixing to be 24. I think my Fuel pump needs to be replaced she spits and sputters if I REALLY get on it or will just seem like she can't get the full power sometimes. All the parts are what it came with new except the o2 censor and housing. All belts pumps and everything are factory except for the fuel filter.

  • @dimitrya1234 huh? The day I drove it off the lot the engine started to randomly stall, bought as is without warranty.

So 100% me not taking care of it, cause it wasn't mine to take care of :)
