This is a very fine performance from both singers. Larin's wonderful tenor is new to me, and to lose such a voice in his prime is very sad!

I have friends in the current production at the Shubert in Boston. The music is wonderful but after further review of the story line I am afraid it will be so sad! I guess that is the nature of so much opera.

I love the juxtaposition between the victory chorus and the way Don Jose contemplates killing Carmen. I haven't seen such an interpretation before, but I like the irony.
