"River Bets and Bluff Catchers" -- Learn how to evaluate the strength of your hand when facing a large river bet. From the TestYourPoker.com video training series.
Three possibilities here other than a bluff. Straight flush, 4 of a kind, or (most likely) full house. In any case, I've been in this exact situation with the nut flush and lost to Four of a Kind. It wasn't pretty. The fold is a good call if you still have enough chips to compete when it's over.
i would instant call there cause i would think....if this guy had a full house...would he go all in or just try to suck me out cause he was sure i had a flush???the question is...who is this guy...is he a smart guy or what he thinks for me? he thinks i am an idiot and i would fold or??? so i would end up with a call cause seems such impossible to check raise with double pair and a flush draw on the board...its a bluff
I would have thought a check raise on the turn indicated he had a flush as a set would probably look to check-raise the flop. I would have moved all in right there. Instead the scariest card in the deck comes on the river. Also he could have been planning to move all in on the river no matter what came off as he has less than a pot sized bet left. A hand like Kc10x would make perfect sense, but QJ is also possible.
such a bad call on the turn, should have gone all in there
