@wallythewindowwasher it is a way to organize the thoughts into systems. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for this video. I have a project where I need to create 10 A3 brainstorm idea sheets and this method gave me a good starting point. Excellent video :)

@newbei440 - You can use a mind map for pretty much anything. If you can think about it, you can mind map it. If you mind map it, you can think about it better.
As Tony Buzan says: a mind map is a picture of your thinking. It shows the links between ideas and allows you to gather your thoughts.
Also, a mind map is a very personal thing. You can come back to a mind map several weeks or even years later and the original thinking pops straight back into your head. They are brilliant for learning

what can mind maps be used for? Should they only be associated with papers, reports, etc... what can they be used for ( and keep in mind im only 16), well the question is what can I use them for??? SOMEBODY PLZ RESPOND

Making of very good mind map takes long time, but learn from it (for me) its just minutes.

@pointlesscommentary i think its more for people who are visual/spatial learners and have a hard time connecting information. like when i read outlines i literally cannot connect/retain anything. i can by reading the information and seeing pictures ( like in a book) , and i do so much better. anyways, i'm referring to biology. i don't know what you mean by projects, but if you mean business plans i would make a list too, cuz its like...a list.

@SeymourSunshine That must be Tony Buzan's mind map.
No. It's very different from a brainstorm.
Brainstorms are used for random thinking allowing one idea to spawn another, and the words are written in random places on the paper. The location of the words is of no significance.
Mind maps are for joined-up thinking and the location of the words is crucial.

You are limiting yourself in your thinking. Mind maps are, as you say, great. They are great for creative, joined up thinking. But there is also a need for linear thinking.
It is a mistake to adopt mind maps and discard lists. They BOTH have their uses and their place in the thinker's toolbox.
