A New clip to this channel now.

Here I present several promotions for Sky Box Office from January 1998, most are fronted by Tanya Brier and she explains about how to use Sky Box Office.

At this time this was the first main Pay Per View service in the UK and it was rather limited in choice. It was spread across 4 channels which originally weren't 24 hours, they shared with others such as...

1) The Disney Channel
2) The Racing Channel
3) Sky Scottish
4) Granada Good Life and [.tv]

On Cable & Wireless they appeared on Channels 51-54 and operated the same hours as they did on Sky, although we didn't have the out of watershed option. Cable & Wireless continued SBO until NTL took over in 2000 until they replaced it with Front Row.

Amazing considering how much Video On Demand and Near Video on Demand has come in ten years.

Enjoy...

  • Why was Sky Scottish scrambled?

  • As Cable & Wireless didn't carry the channel, as a matter of fact I don't think any Cable operator did. I guess it's that they don't pay for it, they don't get it kinda thing.

  • I always thought Sky Scottish timeshared with Granada Talk.

  • It did, GTTV had the channel from 6am to 6pm, and then Sky Scottish had it from 6pm to 8pm, but GTTV closed down on 31st August 1997, so the transponder that carried it only had Sky Scottish on there until Sky Box Office 3 launched in December 1997. Even then it was only an 8pm to 6am service, before it became 8pm to 6pm.

  • i dont know who one tv channel has so many timeshares

  • At one point there was a Trasnponder on Astra that carried, The Christian Channel, Sky Travel, Sky Soap, The History Channel, The Sci-Fi Channel and Sky Sports 2!

  • I like the background music during the ordering instructions. Awesome :)

  • You forgot about CNE and Sky Sports Gold.

  • Sky Scottish was rarely scrambled on my cable.

  • On my cable Sky Box Office launched in December 1997.
