She Moved Through The Fair -

A Traditional Irish folk song, arranged & performed by Ray Mytton & Paul White.

Ray Mytton is well known as a multistyle musician, performing classical music, folk music, rock & blues, both solo & with other musicians. He is also a community music leader. Paul White has played the electric guitar in many well-known local bands for longer than he would care to admit. For a 'day job', he is Editor-in-Chief of Sound on Sound magazine & runs his own studio.

Ray & Paul play together because they enjoy it - it is that simple!! They reinterpret rock classics by bands such as Pink Floyd, Free, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix & Bob Dylan, in duet form with no backing tapes, no computers & a minimum of fancy gizmos. They play pub gigs & functions in their area & appeal to audiences of all ages.
"Who else would dare to take on a version of 'Shine on You Crazy Diamond' without a backing track or a band?"

Paul White has to be the most underrated person in music today. Not a svengali or empressario - but a modest man with a talent for music, and an even greater talent for teaching others. The power of Sound on Sound has been to teach music hobbyists like me that it is okay to just enjoy making music without buying avalon this and manley that. I want to but him some hob nobs!

  • Hi Gary,

Thanks for the very kind comments. I like to get out and play live occasionally as I don't see why my audiences shouldn't share in the suffering ;-)) And I still love working with Sound On Sound - they're all good guys.

  • Been reading Paul White's columns and reviews in 'Sound on Sound' for years and always wondered what he did musically. Thanks for posting this. I also enjoy watching his interviews. The man is a humble genius and has taught me so much about music technology in his fine magazine. The Studio SOS column is my favorite every month. I'm aware of no magazine or counterpart here in America who tirelessly and with boundless enthusiasm helps young musician's set up their studios and improve their sound.

  • Nice one Ray, Mark

  • This is so good. Thank you.

  • Different, but I like it!!!

  • Grate version :))

    Like it ;)

  • More Psychedelic than the Fairport Convention version.. but I like that!
