Jesus said "If you do not eat of my flesh and drink of my blood, you have no life within you".

This is purely literal. Many of His followers left Him after this revelation: they are the descendents of the first Protestants.

It's hard to follow our Lord - but follow we must for our reward is great.

@drdst17 great comment. You're right, they were the first protestants....They followed Jesus up to the point that they could not believe anymore, then in protest they left. Thanks for opening our eyes to this simple fact.

I still insist the Bible is the answer book, not a men-made religion! Go to the Bible- the forbidden book- in the catholic church, and you may find salvation for your soul?

missionoc, I really feel sorry that you have no clue about what goes on in the Catholic Church...We read and pray and sing the bible at every Mass. In fact the Mass is 99.99% bible reading. But remember, the bible is still just a book put together by humans, pointing to the real Word of God, Jesus.

It is obvious you have no idea what the Catholic Church teaches about Jesus in the Eucharist.

Jesus is with me when I receive Him in the Eucharist. Jesus is with me now also.

How well do you know Jesus? Do you know Him on a very personal & intimate level? No, you don't. It is impossible for you to know Jesus in the same way that we do. You have no idea what it means to know Jesus. If you did, you would not have such hatred in your heart.

@JONAH222NCSGAZ All covenants in the Old Testament were renewed some on a yearly basis, some more often. The New Covenant is also renewed, in this case it's supposed to be renewed on a daily basis. He said "This IS my body" beloved that is the way He passed the lineage on. He doesn't have another mortal body to offer up on the cross that's why comes to us in the form of bread and wine that is why He is a High Priest in the Order of Melcheziadek.

@JONAH222NCSGAZ The Mass exists in the eternal moment in Heaven. In the time line Heaven touches down to Earth and we - in all the Masses of all times and all places - join in that one Mass, it is not "many times constantly". We "do this in remembrance" of Him and in so doing join the Apostles at the Last Supper.

When Jesus said "this is my body", the Greek word "esti" is used for is. It means to be!

The comparison of other metaphorical narritves is weak.

@JONAH222NCSGAZ, Paul explains differently. 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 "For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread..." read it.

@777LGF Jesus is the Vine, and Jesus never said this literally neither that we are literal grains of salt but that we are "LIKE" grains of salt, It doesn't take much to understand that Jesus(GOD) spoke in parables and at times figuratively, but there are also verses where he was very CLEAR and DIRECT, LIke "I AM TRUTH and THE WAY" ," I AM THE MESSIAH" and ,"'TRULY' ' TRULY' I say to YOU" etc etc etc...
