This is a 7 minute video of Quinn Jacobson and the Atelieretaguardia Studio in Barcelona, Spain making 16"x20" or 40x50cm Wet Plate Collodion Ambrotype portraits.

The video has "Long Way to the Top" by Lemmy Kilmister laid behind it and there are some still images at the end of it showing the work made that day.

You can learn/see more about the Wet Plate Collodion process at www.studioQ.com or www.studioQ.info and be sure to check out the Atelieretaguardia Studio web site at www.atelieretaguardia.com

  • A private individual can't buy it here. You need a business license.

  • In the bottle of the collodion there's also any salt (like potassium bromide or potassium iodide)? And what do you use for the fiking and developing bath?

  • @192asso Yes, there's both CdBr and NH4I in the Collodion, also additional alcohol and ether. Fixing is done with KCN and developer is iron, acetic acid, alcohol and water (DH2O).

  • I really wish I could've joined that workshop. This looks really amazing! Good to see you're using the waiter tray method as I like that method for my plates and hoped to be able to use that when I go shoot bigger plates (but I already said that I believe) ;-)

    Thankx for sharing this!

  • Indra, it would have been great to have you there. You would love this place, there are few places like it - Maybe next time!

  • Thank everyone! It was a very special and very good time!

  • MY!. That's a big one!

  • Nice video, but the noise in the background ... oh I suppose someone might thing its music, anyway ... that was a major detractor from the video.

  • @quinnjacobson Thank god we can still do this in the US without a government license! Chemical photography is definitely for me. The more do-it-yourself it is the more it holds my interest. I quit shooting digital like 4 years ago and my digital camera hardly gets used anymore.

  • @maxpin63 you can use also KBr or NaBr

  • Hi,

Where can I Buy Cadmim Bromide?

In Germany , nobody can sell it. or want to sell it to private persons.

  • I love this shit!

  • Digital is a Dead-Medium,my believe.

Analog is the best way to make a Living-Picture. There are more and more People out there who are going back to older methods of photographing.

This is incredible work! The size is Huge!

    Thanks!!!!
