  • @rocketship0 man - truer words have never been spoken...well said

  • @rocketship0 Well I couldn't agree with you more,,golf instruction is a multi million dollar business,,and for the most part one pro contradicts the other.

There are more hokey pokey gimmicks and " magical devices to fix your golf swing " in this sport that any other,,ask the TV analyst Roger Maltbie.

Maltbie would attach his name to any piece of crap in the golf industry ( as long as they pay him of course ).

To say the weekend golfer gets confused is an understatement.

  • What Michael Breed and MOST "golf instructors" fail to do is to clearly differentiate what works for a "ONE" plane swing and what works with a "TWO" plane swing. What Mr. Breed is showing in this video is a ONE plane swing. This might work for Matt Kutcher's ONE plane swing but not Fred Couples' TWO plane swing. Apples and oranges. Historically all of the golf instructors together with the TV expert analysts have confused the average weekend golfer. There is NO one single swing fits all.

  • Also, cf. Kostis' book (possibly the best all-but-unknown book in the modern era) The Inside Path to Better golf, where he advocates a "tee drill" in which you put a tee into the hole at the end of the grip and then pay attention to where it's aiming the way Breed here describes paying attention to where the hanger is pointing.

And in addition, see Flick's book On Golf. Same deal with getting that butt end pointing in the right direction to ensure the right plane.

  • Leadbetter and Faldo covered this a long time ago. An on-plane swing is going to look laid off until the shaft gets to parallel, if it ever does. For some players who don't take it all the way back to parallel, esp. with the irons, it's going to look like they're laying the club off, but they're really not.

  • Although this is correct. For most amateurs this is going to encourage a flat backswing...I bet 95% of his viewers are way too flat and come over the top. Better to thing steeper ARMS on the backswing, and don't even conciously cock the wrists-they will cock pretty much automatically. Again, most amateurs have way too much cock, creating flat, across the line, too long backswings-and a slice/variety of mishits.

PS Yes I know he's a better player than me, so what!

  • well this sort of works:( im sending it more now to the left.

  • tell that to freddy couples and nick price :P

  • Awesome tool.

  • Love this show. Watch it religiously every Monday.
