Play burned/pirated/homebrewd games on an unmodified ps! Just press the disc cover sensor down to get the disc going withouta cover.

Problems?
Try to understand what the psx is doing. Authentity check, game data, authentity check, "ok it's valid, boot". For an authentity check the laser moves right next to the spindle hub. Watch it starting an original disc to get a better idea.

Also make sure you burned the game correctly, using the .cue/.ccd whatever tiny file came with it. Burn at slow speeds, too.

  • @colliric Well it definitely caught on or we wouldn't have all this bruhaha these days

It was because they wanted to emulate Nintendo's success with the NES and SNES nicknames. Playstation sounded too much like a Sega console for their liking.

  • @OldSchoolFPSPCGamer The original playstation was promoted as PSX and the name stuck in gaming magazines long before the DVR was released. Taken from edge-online: "A larger sticking point, however, was PlayStation branding. SCEA hated the name and wanted to change it to PSX, a contraction of the project’s codename..."; "...the US nevertheless went ahead with early trade promotion, calling it PSX, and had even come up with its own mascot, Polygon Man."

yep... Sony only branded the slimline model the PSone because it was released a short time before the PS2 was due out.

They continued to brand the original 1994 Model the PSX even after the slimline came out, but began referring to both as the "PS1".

It was also used by Sony, until in 2000 they decided to rebrand the system as the PSone when they released the slimline, because the PS2 was coming out.

In japan however, they never called it PSX because it was mostly for the benifit of english video game magazines, so they released a "PSX" Playstation 2 in Japan.

  • @Th3SMS My bad, thought you need to have original disc of the same game xD

  • what da

  • @Th3SMS *shrugs* I have a late releace PS1 that looks just like the one in the video, and it came in a box that is clearly marked PSX. I don't know why they decided to call it the PSX and not the PS1, you'd have to ask them. So I guess "all these people" are coming from buying the officially licensed Sony product that they decided to call the PSX.
