You can buy spell tomes from him, and I like 'Firebolt', 'Frostbite' and 'Oakflesh', these are fireballs (duh), like flames but icy and does damage to stamina and raises defense...

You equip poison on your weopon, by selecting it from the 'Potions' section of the items menu. Creating potions fail when the ingredients have no effects in common.
